It is a known fact that the translators of the King James Bible made a few translation errors. It is encumbent on the reader of the Bible to verify the content of the Bible to be as sure as possible that you are understanding, not what the translators wrote, but what God intended us to know and understand. In translating the scriptures from it's native languages, ie: Hebrew, Greek, Chaldee, Aramaic... Through the use of the Strong's Exhaustive concordance we can look up the words in the Bible and learn more about them, and find other possible interpretations that could have been used when making the translation.
NO, I am not changing the word of God, I am using the tools available to me to determine the true meaning of a verse of the Bible in obedience to God's instructions to His followers in 2 Timothy 2:15 below.
I am seeking the true meaning put forth in the Hebrew texts and not just what some translator, no matter how honorable he might be, may have written. When one verse of the Bible conflicts with another verse in another book of the Bible, there must be some error, God's word is not inconsistent. |
