I was asked the following question based upon Matthew 13:37-39 below.
Explain how both Jesus, and the devil are the sower of the 2 seeds, yet the devil has literal offspring, but Jesus doesn't.
Matthew 13:37-39
37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
We can find part of the answer in John 1:3 and the other part in Isaiah 54:5.
John 1:3
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
This says that all things were made by him.
Isaiah 54:5
5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
Isn't our husband Jesus?
Now, the wicked one.
Genesis 3:14-15
14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
So now we have the one that sewed the good seed.
Here we see that there IS a “her seed” and “his seed”.
In Genesis, God said unto the serpent that he would put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed.
This is when the enemy, Satan planted the bad seed. God has identified that there is a "her seed" and "thy seed" (Satan).
Here we have the seed that Satan planted identified.
Don't believe me, I have nothing to sell. When God is talking to the Serpent what else can that mean.
This verse from Revelation 12:9 identifies just who the serpent is - the Devil.
Revelation 12:9
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
If I didn't make this clear, let me know and I will try again. I am sure I covered the facts fairly well here. I hope. |
