Elhanan slew G
DAVID DID NOT SLAY GOLIATH!

I saw, on a popular Biography channel series on Biblical Mysteries, about King David.

Everything was going along just fine until they got to the place where David slew Goliath. That is where they went into lala land.

After reading this verse to us on the air:

1 Samuel 17:49
49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
KJV

The commentator went on to say this:

"It is one of the most famous stories in the Bible, what is less known is the Bible contradicts itself."

Then some "Bible scholar" comes on the screen, with his face hanging out and says the following:

"In 2 Samuel 21:19 and 1 Chronicles 20:5 the Bible says that it was Elhanan that actually killed Goliath."

I don't know how many viewers jumped out of their seat and grabbed their Bible and concordance to prove or disprove this absurd statement, but, of course, I did. Here is what I found:

2 Samuel 21:19
19 And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
KJV

1 Chronicles 20:5
5 And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver's beam.
KJV

I checked the NIV and the American Standard Bibles as well and these Bibles say about the same thing as the KJV.

So now we have another myth put forth by scholars that the Bible contradicts itself. The Bible doesn't contradict itself, the scholars who are wrong!

I wonder if these "scholars" even have a concordance?
