Chapter 10
10:1 And these are the generations of the sons of Noach, Shem, Cham, and Yapheth; and sons were born to them after the deluge.

10:2 The sons of Yapheth, Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Yavan, and Thuval, and Meshek, and Tiras.

10:3 And the sons of Gomer, Ashkenaz, and Rephath, and Thogarmah.

10:4 And the sons of Yavan, Elishah and Tharshish, Kittim and Dodanim.

10:5 From these were the isles (nagvath) of the peoples divided in their lands, each according to his language, according to their families in their nations.

10:6 And the sons of Cham, Kush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Kenaan.

10:7 And the sons of Kush, Sheba, and Chavilah, and Sabetha, and Raamah, and Sabtekah. And the sons of Raamah, Sheba and Dedan.

10:8 And Kush begat Nimrod: he began to be a powerful man in the earth.

10:9 He was a powerful man before the Lord: therefore it is said, Like Nimrod the man of might before the Lord.

10:10 And the head (beginning) of his kingdom was Bavel, and Erek, and Akad, and Kalneh in the land of Bavel.⁶

10:11 From that land he went forth to Athura,⁷ and built Nineveh, and the city of Rechov,⁸ and Kalach,⁹

10:12 and Resen,¹ between Nineveh and Kalach, which was a great city.

10:13 And Mizraim begat the Ludaee, and Anamaee, and Lehabaee,² and Naphtuhaee,

10:14 and Pathrusaee, and Kasluchaee, from whom came forth the Pelishtaee and Kaputkaee.

10:15 And Kenaan begat Zidon his firstborn, and Cheth,

10:16 and the Jebusaee, and Amoraee, and Girgashee,

10:17 and Hivaaee, and Arkaee, and Antasaee,

10:18 and Arvadaee, and Zemaraee, and Chamathaee: and afterwords the seed of Kenaanaee were scattered abroad.

10:19 And the frontier of Kenaanaah was from Zidon, coming to Gerar and to Azza, coming unto Sedom, and Amorah, and Adamah and Zeboim, unto Lasha.

10:20 These are the sons of Cham, according to their progenies, to their languages, in their lands, in their peoples.

10:21 And of Shem was born: (also he is the father of all the sons of Eber, and the brother of Yapheth the Great: )

10:22the sons of Shem, Elim, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

10:23 And the sons of Aram, Uz, and Chul, and Gether, and Mash.

10:24 And Arphaxad begat Shelach; and Shelach begat Eber.

10:25 And to Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg: because in his day the earth was divided. And the name of his brother was Yoktan.

10:26 And Yoktan begat Almodad, and Shaleph, and Chatsarmaveth, and Yarech,

10:27 and Chadoram, and Uzal, and Dikelah,

10:28 and Obal, and Avimael, and Sheba,

10:29 and Ophir, and Chavilah, and Yobab: all these are the sons of Yoktan.

10:30 And their dwelling was from Mesha,³ coming to Sephar, an eastern mountain.

10:31 These are the sons of Shem,⁴ according to their progenies, according to their languages, in their lands, in their peoples.

10:32 These are the progenies of the sons of Noach, by their generations, in their peoples: and by them were the peoples outspread in the earth after the deluge.
