Here, In 1 Chronicles 2:55 we discover that "the scribes" which live in Jabez are Kenites (sons of Cain).

1 Chronicles 2:55
55 And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez (Jebusite from Joshua 9:1); the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.

In Jeremiah we see that the Rechabites build no houses and plant no seeds, compair with Genesis 4:11-12 below where Cain is told that the ground will not yield unto him her strength, also he will be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth.

Jeremiah 35:5-8
5 And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine.

6 But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever:

7 Neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye be strangers.

8 Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;

Compare 35:7 with the curse of Cain in Genesis 4:12

11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;

12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
